Destiny

Right now I am much calmer, and very pleased with how well I maintained my composure....

When He first walked in, I admired his deep blue button down shirt tucked neatly inside his black slacks. My eyes gazed at his newly bought iPhone, and attached white case, as he placed it on the couch's arm rest. "He's flexing", I thought to myself but dared not utter those words. For the first time we were cordial, a sense of serenity settled the mood.

His demeanor had changed he exuded confidence, contentment, and a well being from within. An individuality, that I had desperately yearned, a gush of envy imploded from inside. My Ego desired to be heard, but I for one had grown weary of it's antics. So it remained still, and breathed heavily against my neck as it whispered profanities.

As we sat opposite of one another He, with his supervisory posture, and I, hunched over comforting a filthy shirt. I watched hopelessly as he displayed a pride of importance. Hoping, if I'd remain silent his attention won't be distracted from our son's performance. I couldn't resist!   My ego craved attention, and I secretly fed and entertained it. "Why am I still in the same predicament?", a voice echoed from behind. I stealthily shot a look of Blame in his direction. He was to blame for my lack of achievements, he was the reason for my emotional  rampage, and He is why I had reflected on my life, five years later, without satisfaction. Unwilling to muse on my thoughts any longer. "See you later", escaped my lips as he closed the door behind him. Faulting him and the comparison of my life to his only further stagnates an endangered relationship.

My attention then rested on my children, and I wondered if I had chose the correct path. The imperfect path of immense sacrifice, helpless fears, and incessant struggles. However, the Love that thrives inside me planted me here. It manifests itself through my children's laughter, through their joy, through tears, and even fears. I smiled as they slept, and kissed their angelic faces. At that moment I instinctively knew, I had in fact hand selected my Destined path.

My Thoughts: SUPPORT. LOVE. RESPECT

Support, Love & Respect❤❤

Our communities are severely damaged and poverty stricken. I can't stress enough on how much support we are in need of giving one another. Instead of spending our money on truly unnecessary materialistic Bull... Why not support the brotha who dreamt of owning his own bakery. Why not spend money on the sistah who aspired to open her own shop. We need more support within our community for the young black  entrepreneurs of our (and the next) generation. We need to guide one another and inspire each other. Stop depending on the culprit, the media, to  entertain us, to dress us, and teach us erratic behavior.  I see so many young black women and men alike stuck on one beauty type, and only focused on getting money. Enjoy learning something else besides twerking in the mirror. Enjoy earning your wealth instead of "getting it anyway possible". We are much more  than this and shamefully we haven't a clue on the successes we can be in life. Open up Shops, Farmer's Markets, and daycares that contribute to affordability in our area. Help build up our 'hoods rather than being a participant in our demise.  Obliterate ignorance and anger so that we can become vulnerable to one another. Once support has been established we can move on to love. We can move on to self love, and promoting high self esteem. Not only for young girls, but also our young men, remind our boys they are intelligent. He can  become the next big CEO of a multi million dollar company, or she is beautiful no matter what the media beliefs are. Instill greatness and encouragement in our youths. Yes children are our future, but you are the light to their path, guide them in the right direction. Handle disputes in a logical un harming way, and  enliven love.hope&faith in one another. After Support and Love has manifested Respect will fall into place. Respect for oneself and our brethren will enable us to come together during hardship.  A travesty like Trayvon Martin's case should serve as a vessel for other outrages and unjust acts. Speaking along the lines of, "But there are other issues occurring everyday that doesn't receive attention."  Stop that nonsense, that's a corrupt way of thinking, because occurrences like this, bond our people together. Use that as a leverage to bring us closer when other acts take place. Use Emmet's case to raise awareness in our community, we have to start somewhere why not with  ❤❤SUPPORT. LOVE.& RESPECT❤❤
Never forget the great men who has brought us together at some point Martin L. King, Malcolm X,  and yes even Tupac made us aware of our harsh reality. We have and should continue to stick together through devastating events. But we can do that every single day, not only when we're being wronged.

Philadelphia 4th of July Concert

Here in Philadelphia, July 4th could not have been any better. For the first time wawa paired up with Vh1 and also long time partners ABC 6. Bringing you live broadcasting for the Philadelphia Parkway concert from both channels. The night started with Philly's own Kevin Hart as host, followed by a Hiphop flow from the Roots, Philly native Ms. Jill Scott also took the stage delivering soulful tunes, and Grace Potter gave an amazing performance. Artists Demi Lavotto, John Mayer, Neyo, Ben Taylor, and new hiphop rapper J. Cole all gave the crowd something to cheer about. Ending with the most highly anticipated finale amongst visitors and philadelphians alike, The Fireworks! It was an amazing and memorable night, one that everyone continues to enjoy each year. I will already be looking forward to next years festivities.

I hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July! Have a safe and blessed weekend -xoxo

Is Stevia The Best Zero Calorie Sugar?

Does Stevia Cause Side Effects?

Stevia is said to be one of the best natural sweeteners you'll ever switch to. Not only does it taste just as sweet as competitors, it's also the healthier option. Well, after watching Dr. Oz and taking advice from a number of other individuals, I hopped on the Stevia bandwagon. It's a plant based natural herb and has zero calories I thought why not? I did research on the product before trying it out and was very aware of it possibly producing some unpleasant side effects: nausea, dizziness & numbness. I will add, some studies suggest the side effects are rare and not everyone will experience them.
I purchased the stevia (packet) at Whole Foods for only $7 Dollars. Here is my view on The Wonderful Zero Calorie Stevia.

 Thumbs Down!
I think my tastebuds will agree it doesn't have a sweet taste. If anything, after adding the sugar to my cereal my tongue had a slight numbing sensation. I would have been freaking out, however I remember numbness being one of the side effects listed. On the other hand my mother also tried stevia and she loves it. She adds it in her yogurt and hasn't complained of any bad side effects from it. I'm proud to say I've tried it and can now scratch it off my list of things to try. So, is stevia the best alternative? Since I did have a weird reaction to it I can say it isn't the best choice for me. Although it didn't work out for me others like my mom may enjoy it's claimed benefits. I am still searching for a natural sweetener to use in my cereal, smoothie, or whatever. So, if anyone has any suggestions feel free to add a comment.

Transitioning To A Vegan Lifestyle

Let me start off by saying I am a huge animal lover, from farm animals to small domestic house pets I love them all. I could never bring myself to actually killing an animal let alone a cow, pig, or chicken for consumption. I guess you can say I've been naive about how chicken, turkey or beef made it's way to my dinner plate. I knew I was eating meat, but I didn't equate it to this is a slaughtered chicken or cow on my plate. Now I can honestly say I do, and I feel just as guilty as the workers who unmercifully torture and kill these animals each day should feel. So, after doing extensive research online and reading numerous books I found that a vegan lifestyle will work best for me. It's also a much healthier option for those of us who are health conscious. I would love to quit everything cold turkey but I can't. What I will do is Transition into a vegan lifestyle. Instead of cutting everything I've grown accustomed to out of my diet I will try to substitute for a healthier alternative. Meat & dairy is out without question, it tore my heart apart to see how the meat industry handles our food (the animals). I just couldn't stomach it, they can care less if those animals are sick or diseased they will still sell it to us for the sake of profit. I for one will no longer be their helper, from now on I will eat healthy, live healthy and feel healthy.

I tried a quick and easy recipe: Egg, avocado and kale on a bed of quinoa. Mmm... A very hearty satisfying meal I might add.
What you'll need:
An egg
An avocado, cut into cubes
A cup of kale
1/2 cup of quinoa

What I did was: Make the quinoa first, rinse the quinoa well in drainer under cold water. Bring the water (with quinoa in it) to boil, let simmer for 15 minutes, I added butter (dairy free), sea salt & pepper,  when done let sit. Pour very small amount (enough to coat the pan) of olive oil in pan, sauté the kale and avocado in a sauce pan for 3 minute or less under low heat. I added sea salt and pepper. Last I fried the egg, added salt and pepper.

Voilà, you got yourself an inexpensive, healthy, light & satisfying meal vegan style. Also if your interested in going vegan or vegetarian and would love to learn how to switch. Go here this website helped.
